NYU is one of the more accessible highly-ranked private universities for transfers, with acceptance rates that have moved from the low 20s to closer to 39% across recent cycles — consistently several times higher than NYU's freshman rate, which has fallen to around 9%.

NYU accepts transfer applicants for both fall and spring entry, though not every program allows spring transfer — several Tisch School of the Arts programs, for example, only admit for fall. NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai do not accept transfer students at all.

What NYU Looks For

• At least one full year (32 credits) of completed college coursework, with strong first-year grades
